Thought-Provoking Talks
Growing up I always remembered the name Innisbrook but never got the opportunity to visit. After I started playing tennis competitively, I would see all the tennis that Innisbrook had. It was a place I always wanted to visit. When the opportunity came up I jumped at the chance to work at the place I always wanted to visit.
I would say it was probably when I attended a university and was playing collegiate tennis. After playing one professional tournament, I realized that my skill set would not afford me the chance to play professionally, but I still wanted to be a part of the industry.
From an early age, I always enjoyed putting a smile on someone's face through the interaction I had with others. I get to do that every day now. There is nothing better than serving others and helping them have a great experience.
I have always felt that you learn lessons every day when you listen close enough and are aware of what is going on around you. Having a group around you that has similar service attitudes and hospitality desires really moves the exceeding expectations level forward. Teamwork is great here and everyone benefits when we do.
Helping others experience a racquet sport for the very first time. Many don't feel they can do it. I have always felt that everyone should have that experience, no matter the age, level, ability or need. Helping someone do something new and seeing the smile on their face is priceless.
Treat everyone with equal value. If it is a staff member, they have value in what they do for members and guests. If they are members or guests, never underestimate what they can achieve. Even if it is just a little better, it may mean the world to that person that you cared enough to help them.

I am related to the famous actor Bob Newhart. I'm not as funny, but I try.

To be able sing a lot better than I do. I love hearing music.
Getting on a plane and traveling to Europe with my wife for the weekend (I would actually like it to be a longer trip, but will take a weekend).
I would say Arthur Ashe. He was a great tennis player, but an even better human being. He lived with grace and a quiet passion. He helped so many on and off the court. I got to sit next to Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Arthur's wife, years after he had passed away, at a convention and I learned so much more about Arthur and the many things he did for so many people.
