Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club to Stay Open Yearlong with New Amenities and Services

RENDEZVOUS BAY, ANGUILLA, BRITISH WEST INDIES (July 19, 2022) – Spurred by momentum the property has maintained since opening in December 2021 as well as increasing travel options to the island, Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club today announced that it will stay open yearlong. This marks a new opportunity for travelers to enjoy the island during the fall as the majority of Anguilla’s resorts traditionally close during the months of September and October. Additionally, starting on August 8, vaccinated travelers no longer need to show a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.

Set on the idyllic white beaches of Rendezvous Bay, the 300-acre property – formerly CuisinArt Resort – has undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation and offers a collection of world-class amenities, restaurants and lounges, a 27,000-square-foot spa, and the recently re-imagined Aurora International Golf Club. Surrounded by turquoise waters and year-round shimmering sunsets, the resort is owned by renowned businessman Richard M. Schulze, the founder of Best Buy, and is now managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts.

“Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club is committed to supporting the island’s tourism industry and we will remain open throughout the traditional off-season,” said Aurora Anguilla Managing Director Christopher Walling. “Our newly renovated property has received tremendous acclaim under Mr. Schulze, who is dedicated to supporting the local community in numerous ways.”

Through his Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, Schulze supports a variety of causes on the island, including food insecurity, educational technology, and health care. He is also instrumental in developing a local school lunch program and a neighborhood health clinic.

“We welcome the decision by the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club to operate year-round, which represents a tremendous vote of confidence in our island and in our tourism industry,” stated Stacey Liburd, Anguilla’s Director of Tourism. “Becoming a 12-month destination has long been a strategic goal of the Anguilla Tourist Board, and this moves us that much closer to realizing our objective. We applaud the visionary leadership demonstrated by Mr. Schulze and his team,” she declared.

This fall, Aurora Anguilla will open a variety of new amenities, including a short golf course, a golf instructional facility, and a fresh version of the resort’s former storied Japanese restaurant, Tokyo Bay. Schulze further plans to improve the Aurora Anguilla experience, including adding a one-of-
a-kind entertainment center with waterpark, 500-seat amphitheater with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, and courts for sand volleyball, pickleball, tennis, basketball and bocce ball.
Traveling to Anguilla has never been more accessible. Commercial flights to the US mainland are now available, while Aurora Anguilla announced its own fleet of charter jets will be commercially bookable later this fall. Aurora Anguilla is also easily accessible via a 30-minute ferry ride from Saint Martin.

There are a variety of accommodation options at Aurora Anguilla, including ocean view Island Suites with wraparound terraces and private Jacuzzis. For larger groups or families, the resort also has stunning three and five-bedroom villas, as well as a private 6,300-square-feet Estate Home which includes a dedicated butler and private pool.

The varied culinary offerings honor the gastronomic heritage of Anguilla by utilizing the ingredients grown, caught, and raised around the island and marrying them with culinary techniques from around the globe. Of the multiple restaurants and lounges, D. Richard’s is the newest and the island’s only steak house serving freshly caught seafood and hand-crafted cocktails. This complements the other unique outlets and menus which include authentic Caribbean flavors, seafood-centric dishes, and Italian fare with Anguillan twists.

Aurora International Golf Club has undergone a comprehensive remastering to its 18-hole championship layout by Greg Norman Course Design. A nine-hole Short Signature golf course, also designed by Norman, opens this fall with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and a rich variety of shot angles and distances. Collectively, they offer the only golf experience on the island.

Committed to both wellness and sustainability, the 16-treatment-room spa, one of the largest in the Caribbean, is a serene sanctuary of wellness and revitalization. Set in an idyllic locale, the spa offers treatments that refresh and revitalize, using natural elements from the island paired with refined and traditional techniques.
