Eclipse at Half Moon to Reopen on November 1

MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICAEclipse at Half Moon, one of the most luxurious additions to the Caribbean in a generation, will reopen on November 1.

Just a ten-minute drive from Sangster International Airport, Eclipse features 57 new accommodations, a stunning infinity-edge pool, natural swimming cove, seven bars and restaurants, and a special offer to celebrate its reopening.

Eclipse had just opened to great fanfare in the spring before Jamaica temporarily closed its borders to combat the spread of COVID-19. Following recommendations outlined by the Jamaican government, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO), Half Moon developed a series of health and safety protocols called Our Commitment to Your Well-Being.

The newest of a triumvirate of resort options under the iconic Half Moon brand, Eclipse offers a dramatic arrival experience with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea. Its Anglo-Caribbean aesthetic is accented with elegant shutters, vibrant colors and vintage family photographs from the owners’ archives.

Eclipse features a variety of luxurious accommodations which are located in three areas. The tastefully designed Estate Homes offer maximum flexibility, including four bedrooms with private entrances, butler pantry, large great room, island contemporary furnishings, indoor/outdoor showers, and living and dining terraces. The Ocean Rooms feature fabulous views of the Caribbean Sea, luxurious bathrooms, reading coves, colorful artwork and expansive verandas or terraces featuring daybeds. The resort’s signature Great House Ocean Suite has an open-plan design with up to two bedrooms, a classically-appointed living area, elegant dining area, and a sweeping balcony.

Eclipse also features seven new restaurants and bars: Lester’s Bar offers a sophisticated setting, molecular cocktails and diverse selection of Caribbean rums; Delmare provides a refined Italian seafood culinary experience featuring a dinner menu created from local and fresh ingredients; Hayward’s features chef action stations and several outdoor dining areas; overlooking the resort’s infinity pool, North Pointe Bar & Grill offers light fare and specialty cocktails; Spice and Hammock Bar provide casual cuisine and cocktails along a breathtaking section of the property’s two miles of beachfront; and the Maakit provides takeaway snacks, coffees, teas and retail items by local artisans.

For relaxation and restoration, guests can also enjoy Fern Tree, A Salamander Spa, which features two dramatic overwater bungalows for massage treatments and yoga classes. Seamlessly set to blend into the resort’s abundant foliage, the spa also features Ital Café, a raw vegan experience.

Renowned for its legacy of hospitality, Half Moon was founded 65 years ago as is rated as Jamaica’s finest property, according to Forbes Travel Guide, as well as a 2020 Traveler’s Choice Best of the Best winner from Tripadvisor. The resort is managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts, while three of the original founding families still remain as owners.

In addition to Eclipse, guests can also enjoy two additional distinct resort choices: Founders Cove at Half Moon and Rose Hall Villas at Half Moon, which are located at opposite ends of the 400-acre property.

Set to reopen on December 15, Founders Cove incorporates the iconic Half Moon accommodations – Hibiscus, Ocean Court and the West Cottages, which are centred around the delicately-curved Sunset Beach that inspired the name Half Moon.

In June, in conjunction with Jamaica reopening its borders, Half Moon opened its 27 Rose Hall Villas, as well as some amenities including the Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course. Rose Hall Villas are available as 5-, 6- and 7-bedroom self-catering accommodations and are perfect for families, groups and golfers. The villas feature spacious living and dining areas, outdoor living space and private pool. Each villa also comes with a dedicated staff of butler, housekeeper and cook.

Guests at Half Moon can enjoy a variety of additional activities, including a children’s village, equestrian, watersports, tennis, pickleball and squash; and a wide range of dining options such as Founders Cove’s popular Cedar Bar (adjacent to the iconic Half Moon gazebo) and Half Moon’s award-winning signature restaurant, The Sugar Mill, known for its modern twist on Jamaican cuisine.

Half Moon is currently offering a variety of special promotions. The Eclipse Opening Offer features $150 of resort credit and must be booked by October 31. The Stay More, Save More Rose Hall Villas offer saves up to 30% off the best available rate, and up to 55% off on stays 31 nights or more from $20,000. The Founders Cove Legacy Offer includes a complimentary fifth night.
